AT or Bust! Scott Gauvin Announces the 2015 AT Crew
Potable Aqua is psyched to be sponsoring the Hiking Forward AT Crew in its inaugural year!
The Appalachian Trail is a calling for those seeking to find ones self, searching for meaning and looking for a new start in life during a pivotal moment. Those of us that have yet to have the privilege to begin our own journey on the AT find solace and comfort each year by following these brave and determined souls as they search one foot step after another.
Six worthy candidates have been chosen to have their 2015 AT thru-hike sponsored by Hiking Forward. PA Ambassador and founder of Hiking forward, Scott Gauvin, will tell their stories through photos, podcasts, blog posts, and Twitter Chats.
The first of the six AT Crew members to depart is Michael Rev Kane, and he leaves next week. He’s developed quite the resume since his 40th birthday: hiking to Everest Base Camp, biking around Western Ireland, hiking the Great Glen Way in Scotland, spending three months hiking in Bryce Canyon National Park, and a 22 day High Passes trek in the Himalayas in which he spent 16 days above 15,000 feet and topped out at a max elevation of 17,700 feet.
This year, is Michael’s 50th, so it has to be big.
One week from today, Michael will embark on his 2,220 mile “walk in the woods” that will take him from the Appalachian Trail, Scotland’s Western Highland and Great Glen Ways, and finally to a 100 mile look around the Dingle Peninsula in Ireland.
Meet the rest of the AT Crew and follow @hikingforward on Twitter to keep up! Scott will be corresponding with the six AT Crew members for the next six months and hosting weekly Twitter Chats to answer the questions YOU ask!
